Step 6: Connect the two spheres. Then take another half shell and place it in the skillet to melt down the edges. Immediately place this shell on top of the filled half in order to create the seal and make the cocoa bomb. Gently press along the edges to clean up the seal and remove any excess melted chocolate. Repeat for each cocoa bomb.

Step 7: Decorate. In separate bowls, melt the dark chocolate chips and the orange candy melts. Transfer the melted chocolates to individual piping bags. Cut a small hole in the end of the chocolate and pipe two larger circles for the eyes and then about 5 smaller circles for the coal mouth.

Prep Time 30 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 20 oz bag white chocolate chips or candy melts
  • 2 cups milk chocolate hot chocolate mix
  • 1 ½ cups mini dehydrated marshmallows
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup orange candy melts

Instructions

  1. Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, microwave in 30-second increments, and stir until smooth.
  2. Take the hot cocoa bomb mold and fill each cavity of the mold until covered with melted chocolate. Use the back of a spoon or a silicone brush to draw the chocolate up the sides. Allow the chocolate to set.
  3. Follow up with another layer of melted chocolate around the top edge of each cavity where the two half circles are going to join. A thicker edge works best. Keep in mind that you don’t want to fill the cavity too full of chocolate (it will try to rest in the bottom) as that means less cocoa mix and marshmallows. Allow the chocolate to set.
  4. Very gently, remove the sphere halves from the molds.
  5. To connect the two sphere halves, heat up a skillet, then gently melt the ridge of one sphere on the warm skillet. Quickly, fill this sphere with some hot cocoa mix and marshmallows.
  6. Then take another half shell and place it in the skillet to melt down the edges. Immediately place this shell on top of the filled half in order to create the seal and make the cocoa bomb. Gently press along the edges to clean up the seal and remove any excess melted chocolate.
  7. Repeat for each cocoa bomb.
