Tools to use for this recipe
For this recipe you will need:
- measuring spoons and cups
- hot chocolate bomb molds (I bought mine at the dollar store)
- piping bags (you can use Ziploc bags if you don’t have piping bags)
- airtight storage container for leftovers
- skillet
Snowman Hot Cocoa Bomb Ingredients
You only need a few ingredients to make these melting snowman hot chocolate bombs.
- white chocolate chips or candy melts
- hot chocolate mix (read this for gluten free hot chocolate)
- mini dehydrated marshmallows
- a few dark chocolate chips
- a few orange candy melts
How to Make Snowman Hot Chocolate Bombs
Step 1: Melt the white chocolate. Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, microwave in 30-second increments, and stir until smooth.
Step 2: Fill the hot cocoa bomb mold. Take the hot cocoa bomb mold and fill each cavity of the mold until covered with melted chocolate. Use the back of a spoon or a silicone brush to draw the chocolate up the sides. Allow the chocolate to set.
Step 3: Add another layer of chocolate. Follow up with another layer of melted chocolate around the top edge of each cavity where the two half circles are going to join. Allow the chocolate to set.
Step 4: Release the chocolate spheres. Very gently, remove the sphere halves from the molds.
Step 5: Fill up with hot cocoa mix. To connect the two sphere halves, heat up a skillet, then gently melt the ridge of one sphere on the warm skillet.
Quickly, fill this sphere with some hot cocoa mix and marshmallows.
Step 6: Connect the two spheres. Then take another half shell and place it in the skillet to melt down the edges. Immediately place this shell on top of the filled half in order to create the seal and make the cocoa bomb. Gently press along the edges to clean up the seal and remove any excess melted chocolate. Repeat for each cocoa bomb.
Step 7: Decorate. In separate bowls, melt the dark chocolate chips and the orange candy melts. Transfer the melted chocolates to individual piping bags. Cut a small hole in the end of the chocolate and pipe two larger circles for the eyes and then about 5 smaller circles for the coal mouth.
Cut a small hole in the end of the orange bag and pipe a triangular shape to form the nose. Allow the chocolate to harden.
Step 8: Make hot chocolate. When ready to consume, place the bomb in a mug. Heat up 8 oz or more of milk or water – the hotter the better explosion, and slowly pour over the bomb and stir thoroughly. Allow to cool before consuming.
How to Store
You can store snowman hot cocoa bombs in an airtight container for up to 6 months at room temperature.

Snowman Hot Chocolate Bomb Recipe
Snowman Hot Chocolate Bombs
A cozy and whimsical snowman hot chocolate bomb made with white chocolate and filled with hot cocoa mix and marshmallows that's perfect for making a cup of hot chocolate on a chilly day.
Ingredients
- 20 oz bag white chocolate chips or candy melts
- 2 cups milk chocolate hot chocolate mix
- 1 ½ cups mini dehydrated marshmallows
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
- ¼ cup orange candy melts
Instructions
- Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, microwave in 30-second increments, and stir until smooth.
- Take the hot cocoa bomb mold and fill each cavity of the mold until covered with melted chocolate. Use the back of a spoon or a silicone brush to draw the chocolate up the sides. Allow the chocolate to set.
- Follow up with another layer of melted chocolate around the top edge of each cavity where the two half circles are going to join. A thicker edge works best. Keep in mind that you don’t want to fill the cavity too full of chocolate (it will try to rest in the bottom) as that means less cocoa mix and marshmallows. Allow the chocolate to set.
- Very gently, remove the sphere halves from the molds.
- To connect the two sphere halves, heat up a skillet, then gently melt the ridge of one sphere on the warm skillet. Quickly, fill this sphere with some hot cocoa mix and marshmallows.
- Then take another half shell and place it in the skillet to melt down the edges. Immediately place this shell on top of the filled half in order to create the seal and make the cocoa bomb. Gently press along the edges to clean up the seal and remove any excess melted chocolate.
- Repeat for each cocoa bomb.
- In separate bowls, melt the dark chocolate chips and the orange candy melts.
- When ready to consume, place the bomb in a mug. Heat up 8 oz or more of milk or water – the hotter the better explosion, and slowly pour over the bomb and stir thoroughly. Allow to cool before consuming.
