Instant Pot Turkey Chili

This comforting and easy instant pot turkey chili is made with ground turkey, kidney beans, fire-roasted canned tomatoes, and a few other yummy ingredients. It is all made in the instant pot for easy cleanup.
Who doesn’t love a big bowl of chili? I prefer my chili with ground turkey or ground chicken and lots of vegetables and spices.
This ground turkey instant pot chili is easy to assemble using the instant pot. The meat and vegetables are sauteed in the instant pot and then everything is pressured cooked in it.
Your kitchen is going to be filled with the aroma of this spicy turkey chili!
Ingredients
All you need are a few pantry ingredients to make this spicy chili.
- some ground turkey
- an onion
- a green bell pepper
- beef broth
- canned kidney beans
- caned fire-roasted diced tomatoes
- tomato paste
- some garlic powder
- chili powder
- ground cumin powder
- dried oregano
- salt and black pepper
- cayenne pepper, optional
How to Make Instant Pot Turkey Chili
With the electric pressure cooker on the saute mode, heat until “hot.” Add the ground turkey, onion, and green pepper. Cook until the turkey is completely cooked through. Transfer the meat mixture to a colander to drain well.
While the meat drains, pour the beef broth into the electric pressure cooker and scrape the bottom with a wooden spoon to deglaze the pot.
Add the meat mixture to the electric pressure cooker. Add beef broth and deglaze the bottom of the pot by scraping with a wooden spoon.
Add the beans and seasonings to the meat mixture. Stir to evenly distribute the ingredients.
Over the top, pour the tomatoes and dot with tomato paste. Do not stir.
Place the lid on the pressure cooker and set the valve to sealing. Program the pressure cooker on “manual” or “pressure cook” for 25 minutes.
When the cooking cycle has finished, perform a quick release. Remove the lid and stir the chili.
Serve with desired toppings: diced onion, shredded cheese, and/or sour cream.

Yes, you can make chili in a slow cooker. Follow the recipe, except cook the ingredients in a skillet. Then add the ingredients to a slow cooker and heat on low for 8 hours. Your home will smell amazing!

How do I store homemade chili?
You can store homemade chili in your refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 7 days or in your freezer for up to 3 months.
Can I freeze chili?
Yes, you can freeze chili. I make chili in bulk and freeze it in servings of 2-3.
When I am ready to use the chili, I unthaw the container either in my refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for a few hours.
Then reheat the chili in a saucepan over medium-low heat until it is heated through, stirring often.

- 1.25 pounds (20 ounces) ground turkey
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 to 4 cups beef broth, depending on desired thickness
- 2 (15.5 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 (14.5 ounce) cans fire-roasted diced tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional
