For special occasions, my dad always makes his special ham sauce that contains mustard and apple juice to go over the baked ham and everyone in the family always raves about it!
This recipe makes plenty for a huge gathering but you can always adjust it for the size of ham you are baking.

- 3-quart pot or larger
- Whisk

Ham Sauce Ingredients
- some sweetened apple juice
- water
- white sugar or preferred sweetener
- yellow mustard
- garlic powder
- crushed cloves
- cornstarch
How to Make Ham Sauce
Pour all ingredients into a 3-quart pot, constantly stir and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat to medium and cook for 20 minutes, stirring often or continue cooking until desired thickness.
Keto Ham Sauce
You can make this sauce lower carb by using your preferred sweetener like erythritol and thickening it with your favorite low carb thickener.
Can I use something else instead of cornstarch?
You can always try another type of thickener such as arrowroot starch.
Can I use coconut palm sugar or brown sugar instead of white sugar?
You can also use honey or half brown sugar and white sugar or any other sweetener.
Can I freeze ham sauce?
Yes, you can freeze this sauce or keep it in the fridge for 7 days.

- ⅔ cup yellow mustard
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp crushed cloves
- ¼ cup cornstarch
